Bobath-Concept – Advanced Course – Locomotion and adjunct therapy (48)
IBITA (International Bobath Instructors Training Association) recognized advanced course on the treatment of adults with neurological disorders - the Bobath concept.
Focus of the Advanced Course
- Locomotion and adjunct therapy
- Gehen und gerätegestützte Therapie
- Expand and update knowledge on postural control and locomotion from a neurophysiological perspective, including the role of central rhythm and pattern generators, and their integration in functional movement
- Identify the critical components that initiate, maintain and terminate locomotion, and facilitate them through clinical practice and the use of adjunct therapies such as treadmill and robotic-assisted gait training
- Initiate and implement problem-solving strategies for persons with neurological disorders, integrating handling skills, sensory facilitation, and adjunct therapies within the Bobath concept
- Recognize common postural and movement patterns as a framework for locomotor rehabilitation and patient-centered treatment planning
- Consider the theoretical evidence base and apply in-depth movement analysis to support decision-making in locomotor interventions
- Evaluate response to treatment using relevant outcome measures, with special emphasis on gait quality, efficiency, and functional ambulation
- Identify patient potential for locomotor recovery and optimize function and participation through individualized integration of adjunct therapies
English with partial translation into German during practical lessons
